Carrera Popular de Nou Barris

Sunday, May 12, marks the start of the festive atmosphere in Nou Barris with the thrilling 37th edition of the Carrera Popular de Nou Barris, serving as the perfect prelude to the Fiesta Mayor.

Organized by the Club d’Atletisme Nou Barris and the Barcelona City Council since 1986, this race has become a landmark event in the second half of May. In addition to the main race, a 3-kilometer race and a popular walk will also be held, along with various activities focused on the world of athletics.

Montjuïc-Tibidabo Race

Inspired by Barcelona’s Friendship Race, initiated by Francesc Mates, a local entrepreneur and sportsman, and taking over from his daughter Myrna, we embark on the adventure of a reinvented race between the mountains of the city. Thus arises Montjuïc-Tibidabo, a new brand that captures the essence of the project, bearing the name of the two iconic mountains that mark the beginning and end of the route and will take place on November 1, 2024.

At the heart of this initiative is the value of friendship, which acts as a unifying bond. Community members, family, work colleagues, students, and sports enthusiasts will find their place in this race, which not only promotes sports competition but also strengthens bonds along the route and is celebrated with an act of camaraderie at the end, where awards are given and refreshments are shared among participants.

Barcelona Women’s Race 2024

The Barcelona Women’s Race surpasses itself every year, and in 2024, it expects to gather more than 33,000 participants, making it the most participated women’s sports event in all of Europe. This year it will be held on November 10, 2024.

The revamped circuit, covering almost 8 kilometers, takes the “Pink Tide” of women through the main streets of downtown Barcelona, starting and ending around the iconic Arc de Triomf. In addition to the race, the event offers a one-hour fitness and aerobics festival, led by leading instructors from Les Mills, Dance Emotion, Ballet Fit, and Zumba, creating a unique experience that combines sport, health, and entertainment in the heart of the city.

Allianz Jean Bouin

The Allianz Jean Bouin is an iconic historic running event in Barcelona. Its origins date back to February 1, 1920, when a group of passionate sports journalists decided to organize an urban race in Barcelona. Inspired by the famous Grand Prix Lemmonier in Paris, they named the competition in honor of Jean Bouin, a prominent French long-distance runner who left a legacy in the world of athletics.

Since then, the race has experienced multiple evolutions and challenges, from changes in the route to interruptions during the Civil War, but it has maintained its prestige and become a mandatory annual celebration. This race takes place in November, although the exact day is yet to be confirmed.

Cursa dels Nassos

In Barcelona, since 1991, a peculiar race has been held that embodies the festive and cultural spirit of the region: the Cursa dels Nassos, formerly known as the Barcelona San Silvestre. This event, held on the last day of the year, offers a 10-kilometer urban route that attracts runners from all over.

The name of the race refers to a character from Catalan folklore, the man of the noses, who according to legend loses a nose every day until the end of the year, revealing his true face only on the last night. This fun tradition inspires people to run dressed up, with clown noses and other festive accessories, creating a very special atmosphere as they welcome the new year with an extra dose of endorphins and good energy.
