Barcelona Egyptian Museum, one of the biggest private collections in Europe

Established as an institution of educational and cultural importance and part of the Clos Archaeological Foundation, Barcelona Egyptian Museum has a mission to ‘share and promote archaeology and art in general, especially Ancient Egypt’.

As part of your tour of the museum, you’ll have the unique opportunity to explore one of the biggest private collections in Europe. Jordi Clos Llombart, who founded the institution in 1992, created this non-profit museum to offer the highest-quality exhibitions, allowing visitors to discover and share in rich Egyptian history.

More than 1,000 artefacts make up the Barcelona Egyptian Museum and all its treasures

Barcelona Egyptian Museum offers visitors free tours, as well as personalised guided tours, to help you explore more than 1,000 pieces of Egyptian history across its various exhibitions.

Guided tours are organised and led by historians to give you a special insight into the goings on of the museum, helping you uncover all the secrets of their invaluable collection.

The museum exists to promote and share all the fascinating intricacies of Ancient Egypt, offering a number of services and activities specially designed for the younger generation to kick-start their fascination with history. They’ve put together a dedicated programme for nursery, primary and secondary school aged children, providing specially-prepared teaching materials at the museum, along with all the fascinating collections for them to explore.
