(English) Plaza Real, the Perfect Place for Enjoying Barcelona by Night
Barcelona is certainly not short of places to enjoy the local nightlife. But few places are quite as beautiful and appealing as Plaza Real. The palm trees, the Tres Gracias fountain and Gaudí’s very own lampposts all perfectly combine with the elegance and glamour of the surrounding stately buildings where bars, restaurants and some of Barcelona’s most famous nightspots can be found.
Found in the Gothic Quarter, you can easily get to Plaza Real from Las Ramblas via Calle de Colón. Plaza Real was built by famous Catalan architect Francesc Daniel Molina, who designed the square as an elegant and tasteful setting that could bolster the monarchy of the time and where all the best restaurants in the city could be housed.
A century and a half later, Plaza Real has become the central meeting place in all of Barcelona. It serves as an open space where visitors can enjoy spending time, whether early in the morning, mid-afternoon or late into the night. A place where the 60s-style terraces perfectly intertwine with the most modern and avant-garde features, breathing life into the most fun, romantic, festive and, occasionally, wild sides of the city.
A place where Barcelona’s nightlife finds its home, with bars and clubs offering live music and others providing alternative, more exciting entertainment that always promise fun and enjoyment for everyone. Here, we’ll tell you about some of the very best places to try:
