(English) Primavera Sound and Sónar, two unmissable events in Barcelona
In recent years, Barcelona has worked hard to position itself as a world-class music destination. In our city, both international and regional artists find the perfect setting to put on a fantastic show and connect with European audiences. But besides all the great concerts and live music gigs, Barcelona has managed to position itself as a top-class music destination with the help of two very special music festivals in particular, Primavera Sound and Sónar.
Those of us who love seeing live music always end up waiting anxiously for the arrival of spring. It’s the time of year when we can start enjoying great outdoor festivals again, marking the start of the festival season, withthese two in particular making Barcelona the perfect destination to sample live music, with the charm, joy and fun that are all guaranteed at any great festival.
Primavera Sound
The first of the events will take place from 1st to 5th June in Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum. A key feature of this year’s event is the launch of the new Beach Club. It’s a stage for electronic music that will be open for business in the Parc del Fòrum from Thursday to Saturday. In total, 18 hours of fantastic music will be on offer, supplied by some of the world’s greatest DJs from midday until dawn. From 4pm, you can link up with all the other stages to enjoy an enormous range of amazing live music.
Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, Tame Impala, Sigur Rós, Last Shadow Puppets, Animal Collective, Brian Wilson, John Carpente, and many more, will be on hand to delight all you music lovers. Last year’s edition of the festival closed having welcomed more than 175,000 spectators.
Sónar 2018
Just two weeks later, the thirteenth edition of Sónar will open its doors on 16th June. Over three days and two different stages – the Sónar de Día, in the Fira de Montjüic, and the Sónar de Noche, in the Fira de Gran Vía – will be the nerve centre of all things electronic and experimental music, combining both well-established and up-and-coming young artists. Santigold, Kaytranada, Lady Leshurr, Mura Masa, Yung Lean, Richie Hawtin, Ben UFO, Helena Hauff and Kerri Chandler, plus many other great artists, make up the stellar line up.
