All the biggest races in Barcelona in November
Running stopped being an elite pursuit and became a treasured pastime of the masses a long time ago. And at the same time, Barcelona has become the perfect destination to enjoy a jog or run, thanks to the huge variety of running races and fun runs the city hosts. Popular routes, both for professionals, amateurs, children and those with different levels of ability, are in plenty supply this November.
The spectacular landscapes of Barcelona and the city’s love for running makes it the perfect place to enjoy some active leisure time when you’re here. Here are just a few of Barcelona’s most popular running events you can enjoy this November.
Races in Barcelona: Women’s Race
On 6 November, the streets of Barcelona will be painted pink as one of the most popular races takes place, the Cursa de la Dona de Barcelona, where runners raise money for breast cancer. The starting gun will be fired on Avenida María Cristina, while the 7.1-kilometre race finishes on Avenida de Rius i Taulet.
Cros popular de Sants
One of Barcelona’s oldest races takes place this year on 20 November. The ever popular Cros popular de Sants is organised by runners themselves and includes 4 different ways to enter:
– El Petit Cross: for the littlest athletes out there (0 – 6 year olds). At 9.30am, the children’s race begins on Rambla Brasil and heads down Sants before heading to the centre of Rambla Brasil. The race is limited to 150 entrants.
– La Centpeus: intended for children up to 14 years old. This mile-long race starts at 9.40am at the Calle de Miquel Àngel bridge and ends on the central promenade of Rambla de Brasil. The race is limited to 125 entrants.
– Cross Especial: reserved for runners with mental or cognitive impairments, who can choose between the shorter race, which starts at 11.15am on Rambla de Brasil’s central promenade, or the longer route, which starts on Calle Tarragona.
– 38è Cros Popular de Sants: the 10-kilometre race beings at 10.00am on Rambla Brasil. The Cros race is available in the following categories: from 0 to 16 year olds, 17 to 19 year olds, 20 to 39 year olds, 40 to 49 year olds, 50 to 59 year olds and 60s and over.
Barcelona Trail Races
On 26 November, this popular high mountain race will play out in the Sierra de Collserola hills, the Barcelona Trail Races, which pass through 8 of the 9 municipalities that make up the city’s green lung, the Serra de Collserola Nature Park. Already in its fourth instalment, besides a new name, the race will incorporate several new features this year, including the new Collserola Great Trail and the Mitja Volta al Parc, which runs for approximately half the trail route.
93 Jean Bouin
A race for professionals and amateurs alike, on 27 November, Barcelona will host the 93 Jean Bouin event made up of three races for school children, the general public and veterans and city workers, an open race of 10 kilometres with a shorter 5k race available too. The 10k Jean Bouin race is part of the Challenge BCN 10k.
