(English) Barcelona dresses in white for Christmas celebrations
During the holiday season, excitement, happiness, solidarity and mountains of magic can be felt in cities all round the world. Barcelona couldn’t miss out on the celebrations and the city is gearing up to welcome the Christmas holiday season. Streets, shops and companies are soaking up the Christmas spirit and getting ready to celebrate Christmas in Barcelona as it deserves to be celebrated!
Many people associate Christmas with snow and cold weather but in Barcelona temperatures rarely drop below zero, making it the ideal place to walk around the city and enjoy the holiday atmosphere and soak up the true Christmas spirit. The Christmas decorations that can be found all over the city are a wonderful sight as Barcelona is lit up with excitement, happiness and optimism.
On the 24th of November the Christmas lights are switched on, three days earlier than last year due to the fact that Barcelona is getting ready for Black Friday on the 25th November, a day of sales to encourage people to start their Christmas shopping. Black Friday began in the States but is becoming more and more popular in Spain.
Also, the Paseo de Gracia will host The Shopping Night Barcelona 2016 on the 1st of December. Lit up with a huge star, the event will combine a theme of Alice in Wonderland with special offers in the shops which stay open until 1am. The Shopping Night Barcelona 2016 will feature the designer Agatha Ruiz de Prada as the Queen of Hearts and the model Laura Escanes as Alice.
Another iconic symbol of Christmas in Barcelona is the nativity scene in the Poble Espanyol which also hosts live music, a Christmas market and a huge range of activities for children.

We also celebrate Christmas at our HCC hotels and each hotel will be full of Christmas decorations and to get into the Christmas spirit we have special offers for bookings of 3 or more nights in our hotels in the centre of Barcelona and for two or more nights in our hotels in Amposta and Berguedá.
