(English) The Three Wonders of Berguedá
Berguedá is a region that’s full of places to see and things to do. We are going to write about the three wonders of Berguedá:
Mina de Petróleo de Riutort
It can be described as the only oil mine of its type in Spain. Here you can come and visit the mine, where you’ll see the oil seep through the walls, so for cave and nature lovers, this will be a truly unique opportunity.
When people began to exploit the mine they discovered that the petroleum wasn’t suitable to be transformed into gasoline, so it had to be converted and used for flooring and other types of building materials. Interestingly, in the past, local inhabitants of the area could be made exempt from military service in exchange for three years work at the mine. It is a very damp mine, so if you do visit, take some warm clothing.
Castellar de n’Hug
This small town in the region of Berguedá is characterised as the starting point of the Llobregat river. The winding road that provides access for local people is a convenient way to visit Castellar de n’Hug. It’s a very quiet village, built entirely in stone, and from which you can see a unique view over the entire region. We recommend visiting in the afternoon to get to see the most beautiful sunsets, and the sea of mountains behind you that can be enjoyed with the last rays of the sun is spectacular.
Fonts del Llobregat
From Castellar de n’Hug you can access the Fonts del Llobregat. The birthplace of the Llobregat river is a spectacle of nature. Here you can breathe in the fresh air and listen to the soothing trickles of water. Enjoy a hiking route to the source of the river, where you can take advantage of small vantage points to observe the waterfalls. Don’t forget your camera, these beauty spots are the ideal locations for some great holiday photos.
Three wonders of the region that set the tone for your trip to Berguedá. At HCC Hotels, we can tell you all about the local points of interest and visits that you can enjoy during each season of the year.
