There are plenty of places to contemplate the best sunrises in Barcelona. Mostly because the Catalan capital sits in a privileged location for seeing some of the best sunrises and sunsets the world has to offer. And now that the good weather has finally arrived, the temperatures early in the morning are pleasant enough to make it a great way to start your day.

amaneceres en Barcelona

If you want to experience the sun rising over Barcelona, below we’ll reveal some of our favourite places to do it. And remember, if you really want to make the most of the occasion, it’s important to choose a clear day, and don’t forget to double check exactly what time the sun rises in Barcelona.

Park Güell, one of the best sunrises in Barcelona

Park Güell, which is worth a visit during any trip to Barcelona, offers one of the most spectacular viewpoints for overlooking the entire city. Found on the southern slope of Mount Carmelo, it gives visitors the chance to enjoy one of the best sunrises in Barcelona with unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s well worth noting that in the mornings, between 6am and 8am, admission to the park is free, so watching the sun rise here is certainly a good option.

Besides enjoying the sunrise, heading down to Park Güell first thing in the morning is also a great opportunity to admire all the architecture within the park itself, given visitor numbers at this time of day are much lower. Park Güell is one of the most important and well-known creations of Antoni Gaudí, the greatest representative of modernism in Barcelona.

See the sunrise from Montjüic

The small mountain of Montjüic – at just 173 metres above sea level – is another great spot for watching a spectacular sunrise. The 360º views of both the city and the port are impressive, and probably offer some of the best views of the sunrise in the whole region. Similarly, Montjüic has a number of green spaces full of succulent pine trees where you can enjoy nature, including some great picnic spots.

The Carmel bunkers

For many in the know, we’ve saved the best for last. Besides unparalleled views, the Carmel bunkers are home to a great deal of history, since they served as anti-aircraft batteries during the Spanish Civil War. The key feature of this particular viewpoint is that you also get a great view of the Sagrada Familia, alongside the best sunrises in all of Barcelona and panoramic views of the entire city.

Now you know where to go for the best sunrises in Barcelona, all you have to do is pick the right clear day to enjoy the incredible landscapes. Without doubt, this is one thing you can’t afford to miss on your next trip to Barcelona.
