Visit one of the world’s most famous stadiums, Camp Nou

By | 27 April, 2020 | 0 comments

Camp Nou was first opened on 21 September 1957 by José María de Cossío, a member of the Royal Spanish Academy at the Hall of Chronicles in Barcelona City Hall, and ever since has become one of the most important stadiums on Earth. If you’re heading to Barcelona any time soon, this is one of the must see places everyone should add to their travel itinerary.

Camp Nou Experience: visiting the Camp Nou museum

What is the Camp Nou Experience? This was the name given to the club museum and stadium tour when it was first launched back in 2010.

The stadium museum is entirely unique, founded in 1984, where you can explore the full history of the club and its people. Here, you’ll get to know how it all began, how the club was established, while seeing a huge number of trophies and photographs, and you’ll get to meet all the historical figures from the team’s past, along with lots of other surprises.

Most striking of all is the collection of trophies on display, from the very first Barcelona Cup in 1902 to the latest accolades the team have taken home in recent years. Everything in the museum is 100% authentic and fascinating to explore, so it’s a great day out whether you’re a huge fan of the team or not.

Camp Nou behind the scenes tours

After visiting the incredible museum, you can enjoy a tour of the stadium’s amazing facilities too. One of the great benefits of this tour is that you’ll have unlimited time to explore, so you can take your time as you make your way through all the thrilling backstage areas.

The first thing you’ll see is a panoramic view of Camp Nou itself. Did you know it’s the largest capacity stadium in the whole of Spain? When first opened, the stadium had a capacity of 93,053 people, but with the expansion in 1982, the number of seats grew by a further 22,150. It was also in 1982 that Camp Nou was selected as the venue to host the opening ceremony and opening match of the Spanish World Cup.

Later in the tour, you’ll be able to visit the press room and gallery where they interview the players, just like you’ve seen on TV! One of the most fascinating parts of the tour is the tunnel leading to the changing rooms, both for away teams and FC Barcelona players themselves. You can also see the Camp Nou pitch up close – you won’t actually be able to step on the playing surface, but you can see it like never before from the bench!

The tour comes to an end where it all began, back at the museum. At the end of your visit, you’ll have the chance to buy some souvenirs to commemorate your special day and take home some nice memories of your experience at the biggest football stadium in Spain.
