By | 20 February, 2022 | 0 comments

One of the most highly-anticipated exhibitions in Barcelona is just around the corner, Barcelona Wine Week. An event that will bring wine – one of Spain’s main exports and biggest tourist attractions – to the international stage.

The first instalment of Barcelona Wine Week, organised by Fira and set to take place between 4 and 6 april, has been arranged to increase the prestige of Spanish wine globally. As a nation, Spain devotes the most amount of land to wine cultivation in the world, with almost a million hectares of vineyards across all the autonomous communities. What’s more, Spain exports the largest amount of wine globally, selling over 21 million hectolitres internationally every year.

The purpose of the exhibition is to show off the diversity and excellence of Spanish wine. To do so, Barcelona Wine Week will play host to approximately 600 wine companies, alongside 40 brands with special ‘designation of origin’ status.

Barcelona Wine Week activities and events

To make sure all attendees get the full experience, plenty of activities and events have been organised relating to the world of wine, plus other related sectors, such as art, cuisine, music and literature. Similarly, there will be plenty of talks and roundtables, all led by experts, at which participants can discuss all the latest trends and developments in the wine world. Debates will take place on wine and new technology, digital markets, production sustainability, wine tourism, the profile of new customers and women in the world of wine, among plenty others. All the most interesting and topical trends from a sector that continues to boom.

Of course, Barcelona Wine Week will also have lots of spaces for tasting some of the world’s best wines, alongside the opportunity to try some tapas from some of the most outstanding restaurants in Spain. A sensory experience designed to promote the great value of the country’s food and drink sector.
