Best tips for hitting the sales in Barcelona
Still unsure where to go for the best bargains? Barcelona offers an enormous range of great shopping destinations where you’ll find everything you’re looking for. In other blog posts, we’ve talked about the best shopping streets in Barcelona, but now we want to explore the best tips and tricks you need to know before hitting the sales in Barcelona, the city of fashion…
- To buy or not to buy?Make a list of everything you actually need and what you really want to add to your wardrobe. This way, when you walk into a store, you can focus solely on finding those items without getting too distracted. Always write your list in order of priority, leaving anything you ‘might just happen to fancy’ towards the end.
2. Choose comfort above all else.Once you’ve made a list of the things you want, think about the best places to find them. You could head over to La Maquinista Shopping Centre, for example, where you’ll find a wide variety of stores and brands where there’s something for everyone all under one roof. Given you’ll find lots of different stores all in one place, it will be easier on the legs and the wallet…
3. How much do you really want to spend? This one is important – sometimes we go a little crazy at the sales, going way over budget and ending up with lots of things that remain untouched at the back of the wardrobe for years. So don’t hesitate to set a spending limit, that way, you won’t end up buying for the sake of it and you’ll leave with a real sense of achievement.
4. Make room for some classics. During the sales, you might be lucky and stumble upon something special that ends up becoming a staple of your wardrobe – but it’s better to invest in a few classic pieces that you know are going to last and make you feel good. Look through your wardrobe for any classics that might need updating and go for them.
5. Never bin your receipts. Many people aren’t aware, but most stores still offer a two-year warranty for all goods, even in the sales. Very often nowadays, clothes can become damaged in the blink of an eye, so having your receipts handy can be useful in the longer term. You may also take something home from the sales but then change your mind, so you’ll want to hang onto your receipts either way.
6. Shop at the quietest times. Try to shop at quieter times of the day. You’ll be able to get in and out much more quickly, you’ll find everything you’re looking for without having to push and shove and, even better, you won’t lose your mind waiting in endless queues…
7. Try things on. Whether it’s down to convenience or speed, we often decide to just risk it and take something home without trying it on in store. But why? It only makes it more likely we won’t like something in the light of day and have to go all the way back to return it. In the end, this only leads to wasted time.
8. Don’t be fooled! Always check prices are correctly marked and that items have no marks or holes in them, as well as being the right quantities.
The sales are the perfect time for a little retail therapy, so take the opportunity to pick up a few bargains as you explore Barcelona on your next visit, and with all our tips and tricks, winter shopping in Barcelona will be a breeze.
