Use of electric cars more than doubles

Comparisons carried out on a monthly basis over the past year indicate the number of electric cars being registered is doubling. This data demonstrates a real boom in the take up of electric vehicles compared to traditional combustion engines.

But one of the first thoughts that always comes to mind when buying an electric car is always ‘will I be able to recharge it if I go away on a trip?’ At HCC Hotels, we’re not strangers to this conundrum, which is why we’ve introduced parking for electric vehicles in Barcelona as one of our services.

The range of an electric car is generally up to around 300km, depending on the specific model. This is more than enough freedom for your everyday commute, but when it comes to long-distance journeys, you need to be able to plan where you can recharge.

The biggest advantage of electric cars is the massive reduction in pollution. It’s estimated that using an electric vehicle can reduce CO2 emissions by 15 tons over 10 years.

Electric cars are also more efficient than traditional combustion engines. They’re able to make use of 75% of the energy they consume, compared with just 25% for traditional vehicles.

What’s more, they pay out less in taxes and are less expensive to maintain than the typical car. As you can see, the savings and benefits are constant, so if you haven’t yet made the switch to an electric vehicle, we’d encourage you to take this step and switch to cleaner technology.
